iMovie '08 - the good, the bad and the deafIn regards to "filmmaking" I'm a novice, I know a little here and there but this isn't my day job, so keep in mind my comments are from someone who is a tech savvy amateur. With all that out of the way, I must say that iMovie '08, the newest release from Apple, is a nice refresh of the previous version but very disappointing when it comes to handling audio. Apple's big selling point for iMovie is that they completely rewrote it from scratch gearing it for the goal of producing finished product in 30 minutes, which is nice, but I think they might have thrown out the baby with the bathwater.

note to self...keep imovie 06.
why is the timeline gone? it makes everything so much easier when youre trying to edit. even WMM has a timeline. so why is an editor on OS X thats quite a bit better than just about anything on a pc, without a timeline.
well...i give FCP a try since i have 2 gigs of ram now, but seriously...keep imovie 06. it may be older, and less simple, but its much better, even if you do light editing
Aarrgghh!
I have to say I HATE iMove '08.
The rest of the iLife suite is perfect, but Apple has got rid of the good AND the bad things in iMovie.
PLEASE bring back the timeline, it makes everything way easier for a novice (and professional).
Also, no buttons have real labels, so how on earth do you know what they do?
Please, Apple bring back what we loved in the old iMovie.
I'm sure many others will agree.
